In recent news, there are videos trending on social media apparently demonstrating how to break into Kia and Hyundai model cars, creating an increase in thefts across the country. Kia and Hyundai are aware of the unfortunate situation and have declared willingness to partner with certain local police departments to provide customers with a steering wheel lock at no charge.

Both Kia and Hyundai manufacturers have combatted the issue with engine immobilizers for model years 2022 and newer. Installation of kill switches that render the vehicle inoperable without a separate key, car alarms with motion detection, or vehicle tracking systems may all help minimize theft opportunities.
