Commercial Lines Account Manager

Position: Commercial Lines Account Manager - United Agencies, Burbank

Goal: To provide exceptional service to our existing client base and expand our market share by capitalizing on our excellent insurance carrier appointments. Position requires working with Producers/Account Executives in helping to meet this goal and with some clients being the primary contact where no producer is assigned.

Job Description:

United Agencies sells Commercial, Personal and Health Insurance to customers nationwide, with preponderant majority being located within 100 miles of our Southern California office.

Job involves working alone but also working with Producers to assist in servicing Commercial Clients and assist in securing new business, including selling business insurance products. This includes quoting accounts, putting together submissions and processing new and renewal business, including changes and the review of policies and endorsements for accuracy. This will also involve taking incoming calls, emails and mail. Provide friendly, courteous and professional customer service and building close relationships with the clients.

Essential duties and responsibilities include working alone and with Producer to complete the following. In some cases, and with some accounts, you will become the primary person responsible for these duties and responsibilities. Other duties will be assigned and the job description will change as needs arise.

  • Manage the renewal, quoting and binding process of policies.
  • Know and learn multiple rating/quoting programs as well as online processing programs
  • Assist Producer with prospects and existing clients as needed.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and e-mails promptly.
  • Review incoming mail promptly and process accordingly.
  • Service existing account changes.
  • Maintain accurate policy information in the Agency Management System.
  • Process policies and endorsements and review for accuracy.
  • Process work using department workflows/procedures and form letters.
  • Work renewals well in advance to expiration date.
  • Maintain familiarity with various carriers and policies.
  • Cover for co-workers as needed.
  • Maintain a positive and helpful working relationship with co-workers.
  • Coverage knowledge.
  • Currently have and Maintain Insurance License.

  2. Personal Time Off (PTO) starts accruing immediately:
  • 4 hours per pay period (12 days per year) for date of hire through 5th
  • 6 hours per pay period (18 days) for 6th through 15th
  • 8 hours per pay period (24 days) for 16 or more years.
  1. Sick Days – You are given 6 days (or 48 hours) on July 1st of each year and upon first date of hire.
  2. 10 Paid Office Holidays per year, approximately. Varies year to year.

Work Schedule:

  • Regular Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours a day
  • We offer a hybrid work schedule: Monday & Friday are work from home days.
    • Except during training, if training falls on Monday and or Friday than employee would be required to be in the office that day.

Commercial Lines Account Manager Assistant

Position: Commercial Lines Account Manager Assistant - United Agencies, Burbank

Goal: Assisting key Commercial Lines Account Managers in processing their work.

Job Description:

United Agencies sells Commercial, Personal and Health Insurance to customers nationwide, with preponderant majority being located within 100 miles of our Southern California office. Job involves working with Account Managers to assist them in servicing their Commercial Clients. This includes quoting accounts, putting together submissions and processing new and renewal business, including changes and the review of policies and endorsements for accuracy. This will also involve processing work resulting from emails and mail. Be friendly and helpful to Account Managers. A 4‐day work week or a 5‐day work week are available. Minimum 32 hours per week. Schedule to be determined at a later time by management.

In addition, the position requires an exceptional level of service be provided to our clients, professional and productive working relationships with Management, Sales Manager, Account Manager(s), and co-workers in helping to meet the goal of agency growth. Commercial Lines Producer shall maintain positive client relationships, and must provide friendly, courteous, and professional service. Insurance coverage knowledge and understanding is important.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide quality professional service to group health insurance accounts.
  • Keep informed on current insurance markets, market trends and industry changes
  • Participate in meetings, seminars and classes for skill and knowledge development
  • Be available to attend client meetings off-site as well as potentially travel out of state for multiple days
  • Assist other team members as needed
  • Facilitate minor claims resolution

  • Oversee accurate and timely policy and benefit plan implementation from beginning to end

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Prefer Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Prefer a minimum of three years of related experience in the health insurance industry. Knowledge of individual health insurance and Medicare insurance as it relates to the enrollments, customer service and related information.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common insurance policies and contract documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from insureds or insurance carriers. Ability to write and prepare employee memos and professional letters to insureds and carriers. Ability to effectively present information to insureds and carriers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as percentages, adding, subtracting, multiplying and division. Ability to apply mathematical operations to required tasks.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Maintain a current California Health Insurance License. (Must be currently licensed in the state of California)
