Happy Labor Day from United Agencies!
U.S. Labor Day - A Brief History:
We thought a history refresher on the origins of Labor Day would be of value and interest, so here is the scoop…
It originated in the late 19th century as a way to honor the contributions of American workers and the labor movement. The first U.S. Labor Day parade was held on September 5, 1882, in New York City, organized by the Central Labor Union. The holiday was initially observed by labor unions and became a federal holiday in 1894, following the Pullman Strike, which highlighted the struggles of workers.
Labor Day is officially celebrated on the first Monday of September, symbolizing the achievements of workers and the importance of fair labor practices, which have come a long way from the late 1800s!
This is a perfect time for us to take a moment to recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication that our staff, partners, members, and friends bring to us each and every day. We are very grateful for all of your support.
Wishing you all a very Happy Labor Day!
Sincerely,
